In the canton of Camilo Ponce Enríquez, out of the 3800 people working in mining, three out of every ten are women. These women have formed associations dedicated to mineral selection, known as ‘jancheo’. Through these associations, the goal is to make this activity more visible and promote sustainable development through complementary activities like agriculture and animal husbandry. This ensures the families’ livelihoods and strengthens the community’s economy.
